I've always hated the beach. Sand gets everywhere. Every-where, if you know what I mean. The thought of trying to get every grain out of your sandals, swim trunks, and car rugs would bring dread into my heart before I ever sat foot on the beach. I'm trying to get over that totally rational fear, though. I bought a beach chair and umbrella. Just like this couple in Edisto, SC. I gave up on the umbrella before getting in over my head, though. The beach is growing on me.

Knoxville Brewers
Kegs in the Saw Works storage room.
Many thanks to all the folks who let me invade their space and take up their time while shooting this week's Metro Pulse cover story on Knoxville's nascent craft beer scene. Here are some outtakes (and a couple intakes) from the shoot.
Now Showing: Three Rivers Market
The folks at Three Rivers Market graciously allowed me to let me hang some prints in their gallery. The pictures are from east Tennessee, Kentucky, and southwest Virginia and will be up until the first of August. Go to support the co-op market, breeze by for the photos!
Concert on the Commons
Last weekend the wife and I watched the über-talented Liz and Tim perform on the Commons in Norris, TN. They were great, as was the venue. It had the feeling of a grand picnic, including a soundtrack. People in lawn chairs, dogs and children running wild, and snacks.
You can see a new act each Friday evening in the summer. Check the Norris on the Commons website for the next show. If you're anywhere near Norris it's worth the trip. Even if you're not, throw ice in your cooler and your cooler in the car and make the trip. It's lovely.
Memphis Wedding
Dale and I were in Memphis last weekend for the wedding of our good friend Mark Weber. We saw their lovely ceremony, hung out on a rooftop, danced like crazy at Ernestine and Hazel's, laughed with old college buddies, and ate the best french toast of my life at the Arcade (twice).
